Recurring series and rescheduling

Yes — every date in a series is validated against the doctor's shift, that day's exception, blackouts and live holds with the same engine as a single booking; when a date can't fit, a patient booking online gets the dates that work and is told which were skipped, while the front desk gets all or none with the failing dates named; patients reschedule through a single-use secure link that runs the same five checks staff see.

A series

Book twelve Tuesdays in one go. Every occurrence is judged on its own against the doctor's shift that day, any exception on that date, blackouts and other people's live holds.

When a date won't fit — two right answers

  • Patient, online, alone at midnight: the ten that fit are booked and the two closed dates are skipped and named on the confirmation. A dead end at midnight helps nobody.
  • Front desk, patient still on the phone: all of them or none, with the failing dates named, because the desk can move those two while the patient is still there.

Rescheduling

There is no second system: the link in the patient's email runs the same code as the front desk — shifts, exceptions, blackouts, other people's holds — and offers the same slots. The patient's own current booking is excluded from the clash check so moving 10:15 to 10:30 doesn't collide with itself. A group booking moves together and everybody is told; a series moves one date, not the other eleven. The link is single use and expires with the appointment, and every move and cancellation is written to the appointment's audit log.

The hold

Eight minutes, extendable in five-minute steps, with a hard ceiling of twenty-eight minutes. An expired hold is not a booking — the slot goes straight back.
